Texas doesn’t need to raid Rainy Day Fund for education
Texas does not need to use the Rainy Day Fund to plug the school financing hole. Texas administrators also do not need to lay off classroom teachers. The per-pupil spending in Texas’ public schools is $11,567, and that is enough to teach the large majority of students the all-important knowledge and skills necessary for academic success IF schools and teachers will practice consistent discipline and IF quality curriculum is used.
Edwards, Doggett attack Texas sovereignty
Democrat Congressmen Chet Edwards and Lloyd Doggett (along with other Democrats) have shown their true colors.
Not only did they and their Democrat cronies attach more than $20 billion in domestic spending provisions to the supplemental war-spending bill (H. R. 4899 passed by the House on July 1), but they attached Amendment #2 that is specifically focused on Texas as an attempt to take revenge on Texas Republican Gov. Perry and Commissioner of Education Robert Scott.

FoxNews recently aired a special program entitled “Do You Know What Textbooks Your Children Are Really Reading?”
Part of that program included an interview with Kathy Miller, the president of Texas Freedom Network. Texas Freedom Network (TFN) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization. That means TFN can (and does) lobby for legislation and participates in political campaigns and elections. TFN received $1.9 Million for its Education Fund between 2002-2007.
