Police seek armed man in liquor-store robbery
Gonzales Police are seeking a suspect in the Tuesday-night armed robbery of a Gonzales liquor store.
According to witnesses, at approximately 7:30 p.m., an Hispanic male entered the D&D Liquor Store in Gonzales store wielding a gun, and escaped with an unreleased amount of cash.
“He came in (with a gun) and took the money,” said store manager Kathy Burrier, who was preparing to close up for the night when the intruder entered and threatened her.

Members of The Gonzales Fire Department and family members gathered Sunday in honor of the tenth anniversary of 9/11, and to rededicate the station's recently repaired siren and former fire chief monument in front of the fire station. Current Fire Chief Keith Schmidt was joined by four past fire chiefs during the ceremony. Gonzales City Manager Alan Barnes and City Councilman (and volunteer firefighter) Gary Schroeder also attended the event.

J.B. Wells open for evacuated horses
The Cannon just confirmed that J.B. Wells Arena in Gonzales is OPEN to receive evacuated horses. According to the Gonzales Police Department, of its 200 stalls, J.B. Wells only has 188 stalls available at this time. Each is for a single horse.
They are asking people to contact them at (830) 672-8686 before transporting the animals to the show barn. Gonzales Police Chief Tim Crow (current parks and recreation manager) and incoming Gonzales City Manager Alan Barnes both agreed it was a good idea and authorized the park for this operation.
