Isn’t it supposed to be freezing?
Whew! I know I just have to wait a minute because it is supposed to be freezing tomorrow, but goodness it sure is hot today. It is no wonder that the hummingbirds are confused. But it is a gorgeous day so go outside and enjoy the beauty God created. Oh, and when you are driving through Belmont, cast your eye over at the beautiful cross that remains lit up on the Belmont United Methodist Church. It remains that way from when it was put up with the Christmas lights. We pulled over off the side of the road and just stared at its glow the other night.
Monthalia Chili Supper set; Belmont Ladies plan meeting
It looks like we got some things going on in our community. Remember to mark a date down in your mind that in the month of February the Lydia Class at the Monthalia United Methodist Church has their fund raising Chili Supper.
Start your new year off with prayer
Happy New Year everyone!!! I hope that your new year started well and for those whose didn’t, I hope that it gets better. I know that some of you below are very ill and have family members that are very ill. That is why you are on the prayer list below. Our country needs your prayers and those defending our freedom need every prayer we can give them. We can look to this new year as a starting over point and remember how the United States of America became One Nation Under God.
This weather? Only in Texas!
Only in Texas can you have weather like this. We have had rain that soaked into the earth just like we needed it to do. Then we have had two day of sunshine mixed in where it left the winter grass and even the brown leaves just sparkling like stars. It makes a heart grateful.
Getting ready for Christmas
December 24th, “Come and Go” Communion Service 5-6 PM at the Monthalia United Methodist Church. It is hard for me to get into my head that Christmas Eve is on a Saturday this year.
Outdoor nativity set at Belmont UMC this weekend
I got to talk with some church members of the Belmont United Methodist Church this weekend and I don’t know whether we are going to have an outdoor nativity scene because of the weather, but they are still going to try. I noticed some people had stopped and were taking pictures of the manger scene. It does look so wonderful sitting beside that beautiful little white church. Mike Bond certainly did a great job building the stable and the manger.
It looks like winter has decided to pay Texas a visit
I believe that winter like weather has finally decided to arrive in this part of Texas. It was so nice to hear rain drops on the roof. People and animals did not know what to do. After a bit the drips started adding up to water standing in puddles. We got way over two inches here. I know that it did rain pretty hard at times, but I think that every drop is soaking in the ground. When that rather ignorant Squeaky dog decided that she wanted out the door this morning, she took two steps forward and two steps backward. I am afraid that I took them right along with her.
Post-holiday accidents; trimming the Christmas tree
My goodness we got through the Thanksgiving holidays, as far as I know, without accidents, and people woke up this Monday morning and said let’s go smash some metal and plastic and make those scanners and radios talk. I don’t know who was injured but Hwy. 80 was blocked off in Leesville because an accident between a SUV and a big rig that rolled-over/jack-knifed or something of the sort. Two helicopters arrived to air flight people out. We pray they will be alright. I heard there were less serious accidents in other parts of the county.
