Glory Bound Singers
The Glory Bound Singers are working on their spring musical, which will happen on Sunday evening at the First Baptist Church in Gonzales on May 2.  This is an inter-denominational choir directed by Rev. Steve Faulkner.  The volunteer choir members meet each Monday afternoon at 5 p.m.  Their four-part harmony will be a special treat for all to enjoy.
The choir is composed of Seniors age 50 and up.  There will be no charge -- it’s FREE for your enjoyment and pleasure.

Waelder Town Hall
The Waelder Police Department will be hosting a law enforcement sponsored Town Hall Meeting, set to take place March 30 at 6:30 p.m.  The event will be held at the Waelder’s City Park with a rainout location at the Waelder Independent School District Gymnasium.
The meeting is being held to introduce the new police chief and the department’s new officers to the citizens of Waelder.  Members of the police department will also answer questions from attendees and gather important information from the public.
All Waelder citizens as well as all local and regional law enforcement related agency members are welcome.

Waelder VFD Fundraiser
There will be a barbecue fundraiser for the Waelder VFD at 11:30 a.m. until sold out on March 28 at teh Waelder Fire department. Chicken and Sausage plates with trimmings will be available.
Come out and support your local Volunteer Fire Department.Thank you for your support.

Thompsonville scholarship
The Thompsonville Ladies Club will be accepting scholarship applications from Gonzales area 2010 seniors through April 15.  The resume/fact sheet should be mailed to Mrs. Betty Schroeder at 7920 County Road 240, Waelder, Texas, 78959 by April 15.

Gonzales Young Farmers
Gonzales Young Farmers will have a meeting on March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Ag building.

Gonzales Relay for Life
Relay for Life Silent Auction donations are now being accepted.Great way to advertise your business. If you would like to donate an item for the silent auction please contact Donna Allen at 830-203-0716. Reminder: the relay will be held at the JB Wells Arena on March 26.

Easter Coloring Contest
The Gonzales Public Library will hold its annual Easter coloring contest from March 16 – March 31. Come by the library and pick up a coloring sheet, and turn it in by March 31st.  The age groups for this contest are: 3-4, 5-7, and 8-10.  call the library @ 672-6315 for more information.

Friends of Lake Wood
The Friends of Lake Wood Association will have a re-organizational meeting at 7 p.m. March 26 at the Gonzales Elks Lodge. All members are encouraged to attend. There will be an election of officers and directors. There will also be an update on a new boat launch, a lake cleanup date set and door prizes.

East Ave. Registration
East Avenue registration for Pre-K and Kindergarten for the 2010-11 School year will be held:  April 12 – April 23 from 8:30 am thru 11:00 am and 1:00 pm thru 3:00 pm.
In order to register, you must bring your child’s birth certificate, social security card, immunization record and photo ID of person registering child.
Children eligible for the Pre-K Program must be unable to speak or understand the English Language, or be eligible to participate in the National Free or Reduced Lunch Program.  Children must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2010.
Children eligible for Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2010.  Please call the school office for more information.

GHS Honor Society
Due to scheduling conflicts, the Gonzales High School National Honor Society Induction Ceremony will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 6 p.m. in the Gonzales Junior High School Auditorium. Please note this date change. For more information contact the high school front office at 672-7535.

Bebe School Reunion

Easter Orders
Easter is April 4, Gonzales Family Church 310 St. Andrews is taking orders for pretty Easter Cakes, Crosses, Bunnies and Basket Cakes, they will be $15.00 each, and will be delivered. Call 830-672-6113 or 830-557-0843 anytime. Proceeds go to help send our kids to Church Camp. Deadline is March 28.

Seniors in Action
Gonzales County Seniors in Action will sponsor monthly Bingo at the Gonzales County senior citizens Nutrition site.  The following dates set are Wednesday April 7th 2010.  Each month Sponsors of the Seniors in Action will host the event.

Senior Bingo
Texan Nursing and Rehab of Gonzales & Texas Home Health sponsor monthly bingo at the local Gonzales County senior Citizen Nutrition site free of charge to all Senior Citizens in Gonzales County every 3rd Friday of the month. The 2010 schedule is: March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, August 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19 and Dec. 17.  A light breakfast is served at 9:30 a.m. and bingo begins at 10:00 a.m. Please contact Donna Allen at 830-672-2867 for more information.
 
Youth Center
The Gonzales Youth Center is open Monday through Thursday from 3:30-6 p.m. with bus transportation home after closing.  Remember there is always something to do at the youth center: Tutoring, pool, volleyball, ping-pong, basketball, football, air hockey, kickball, computer lab, games, puzzles, TV, great food, friends and fun. From 3-10 p.m. on Saturdays. Call 672-7664 or 857-3483 for more information.

Library Story Time
The Gonzales Public Library is hosting story time every Saturday from 11-11:30 a.m. Children in kindergarten through first grade are invited. For more information, call 672-6315.

Waelder Tutoring
After school tutoring is hosted on Tuesdays and Thursdays for students in the Waelder ISD from 4-5 p.m.  A late bus will run for regular bus riders at  5 p.m.  Snacks are served from 3:35-4 p.m. for those students enrolled in tutoring.  Teachers will contact parents if their student is to stay for tutoring.  Check with your child’s teacher if you need to verify tutoring times.

Healing Hands
Healing Hands meets the first Tuesday of every month at Two Rivers Bible Church
The mission of Healing Hands Clinic is to provide free medical care to uninsured residents of Gonzales County.  Helping Hands is designed for those without health insurance, without Medicaid/Medicare and without any other kind of medical assistance.  Come join our friendly environment as you get your physical needs met.  While waiting, prayer counselors and children’s activities  are available. This is not an Immunization Clinic, so no flu shots will be administered.

Prayer meetings
Calling all intercessors and prayer warriors, join other local Christians praying for revival in Gonzales.  We will meet every Saturday at 6 p.m. at Gonzales Faith Family Church Assembly of God.  For more information, contact 672-6113.

Unity Group of Alcoholics Anonymous
Do you think you may ahve a drinking problem?  Just can’t  stop?  Is alcohol causing problems in your life?  If so please join the Unity Group of Alcoholics Anonymous. They are literature based meetings focussed on the solution. Waelder PTO
Waelder ISD Parent-teacher Organization is holding a membership drive. Registration forms can be found in the front office or the registration form can be downloaded on the district’s website.  Annual dues are $5.  The PTO is a great way to support your child.
