Armed man shot by police in Cuero
CUERO- According to the Cuero Chief of Police Chris Hernandez, a Cuero police officer shot and killed a man who allegedly pointed a gun at officers Thursday night. Police responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 200 block of N. Terrell at approximately 10:41 p.m. for a subject who was threatening suicide with a gun.
After hearing what sounded like a disturbance inside, responding officers entered the house. Chief Hernandez advised, “Based on the preliminary investigation that a man was shot twice after he allegedly pointed a pistol at officers.”
The man, whose name has not been released, was struck twice and collapsed at the scene. Officers attempted to render aid while EMS responded. The man was transported to Cuero Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead at approximately 11:30 p.m. by Judge Bill Robinson, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2.
Hernandez stated, “The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave which is normal following an incident of this nature.” At the request of Hernandez, Texas Rangers will conduct the investigation into the shooting and further details will be released.
