Officials investigate death of former Cuero woman
Cuero- Sherry Black Lancaster, 51, a former long time resident of Cuero, was found hanged in her Port Aransas Police Department cell last Tuesday.
She was arrested and being held on charges of driving while intoxicated. At 8:30 p.m. authorities did a routine cell check and Lancaster was found unconscious and hanging in her cell. Police and local EMS services administered emergency aid but she was later pronounced dead at Northbay Hospital in Port Aransas.
Lancaster had no police record prior to Tuesdays’ arrest. A mother of two, Lancaster and her husband established Lancaster Industries in Cuero producing high end custom store fixtures, millwork and furnishings.
Her husband, Herb Lancaster, released this statement about his wife,” She was a wonderful loving wife of 30 years, and she was a wonderful mother to our two children.”
The Texas Rangers are investigating Lancaster’s death.
