College student sick week

Last Tuesday, I woke up with beads of sweat dripping down my face and drool all over my pillow. As I tried to raise my hand to hit the snooze button on my alarm, I noticed I could barely lift up my arm, and I knew something was wrong.
I stumbled to get out of bed and walked like a zombie to the living room to make sure my roommate hadn’t turned the thermometer up, but it turns out it was a cool 68 degrees. I dragged myself into the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I could see the tiredness written all over my droopy face and I knew I was sick.
I took a long shower due to the muscle aches that began to spread all over my body and decided to skip on the morning coffee and oatmeal. As I changed for class and started to get my backpack ready, vast pulses of pain waved through my head to the point where I almost fell to the floor.
Since I didn’t have medicine or a thermometer at hand (I’m a college student, remember), I decided just to brush the sickness off for a few hours. I would eventually drive to a pharmacy to get medicine later. As I locked the door and began to walk to class, I hoped I wasn’t too sick and that it would go away soon.
It took me around eight minutes instead of my usual four to get to class and by the time I walked across the bridge to access the doors of the business school, I was already drenched in sweat thanks to my unknown high temperature.
As I sat down in the first row for my Money and Banking class, I hoped that I would be conscious enough to pay attention to the professor.
Professor Beckworth came in and put our name tags on our table for us to place in front of our desk as a part of attendance. After we all had gotten our tags he began to play a video about financial markets and that’s when my eyelids became heavy.
After the video was over, he began to lecture about capital and money markets and even though I had a pen in my hand and notepad in front of me I could not write anything down partially because sometimes I had no idea what he was saying, and at times because I wasn’t paying attention.
The only reason why I knew what we were talking about was because I had previously read the chapter we were covering so it wasn’t a big deal that I didn’t write any notes for that class. I turned to see how much the girl next to me had written and she was beginning on her third page while I turned to see my note pad and only saw two sentences.
When class ended I decided to eat back in my room and avoid the long lines in one of the dining halls. I put my backpack on my bed and headed over to the kitchen cabinet to grab a can of chicken soup I luckily happened to have. I sat lazily on the couch with a minor headache and watched t.v., hoping it would distract me from the thought of having to go back to the business school for my management class.
It turns out that management was just another repeat of what had happened in my Money and Banking Class. The professor started to lecture, it seemed like nothing was coming out of her mouth, my headache was getting worse and I eventually ended up with my head on the desk for who knows how long.
The professor tried to pick on me since she obviously saw I was sleeping in class but to my surprise I still remembered the chapter that I had read before and answered her answer quickly despite my sickness. I sensed satisfaction from her face after I gave her the correct answers and she left me alone for the rest of the class period.
We eventually ended up watching a video which caught my attention for a while and to my surprise the time afterwards passed by quickly, and I left to my room as fast as I could.
I stocked up on Dayquil, Tylenol, Advil and even had to buy a thermometer since I had left mine at home and didn’t feel like driving 45 minutes just to go pick it up. For the rest of the week my temperature was up and down from 102 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
Thankfully it only lasted three more days and I didn’t have any important things going on like tests or projects. . . But I better stay healthy because they are coming around the corner.
