Dear Gonzales ISD School and Community Family,
The first days of school have been an exciting time for all of us.  As of Friday, August 27th, 2010 Gonzales Independent School District had welcomed back 2,586 students. Our enrollment demonstrates growth in numbers of students across the district with the most at East Avenue Primary School. The campuses are working as if they haven’t missed a beat over the summer. We are on target for a great year! I have some words of gratitude to express today.
I want to express my thanks to all of the staff, students and parents for making the first week of school a great one.  It has been fantastic to see the students back on campuses.  The students are smiling, prepared and having fun seeing each other back at school.  It is heartwarming to meet and visit with such a respectful group of young people who are focusing on the new expectations for the year. It has been a joy to walk through the buildings and see the faculty and staff in action, visit with the students and know that we have the most effective instruction taking place. We saw two Recognized campuses last year and expect even greater results for the year to come.
Thank you to the parents and community for your patience and diligence in working around our construction. We are opening school during a time of construction projects at every campus.  Just know that your patience will pay off in the end as we look forward to the reward of improved facilities, driveways and canopies.
Thank you to the Booster Club! There was a great turnout for the Booster Club at Apache night.  We enjoyed good food, performances and best of all the introductions of all the students who are members of athletics, band, cheerleading and dance teams in Gonzales ISD.  We are so proud of the Apaches and their dedication to their teams, their district and themselves.  Watching the games, band and performances from the cheerleaders and dance teams makes me appreciate the efforts from the students to push themselves to a greater potential while maintaining a strong academic history.  We are anticipating a great season this fall!
WELCOME BACK to a great school year! We look forward to working with you for success!
