Canada signs with Temple JC

Termeka Canada, of Nixon-Smiley High School, signed a letter of intent April 9 to play basketball at Temple Junior College next year.
Termeka will join a Temple squad that went 21-6, won the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Championship last season and reached the regional semifinals of the NJCAA Tournament.  She will be coached by Kim Sebek who was named Coach of the Year in her conference this past season.
Termeka wrapped up a great career with the Lady Mustangs of Nixon-Smiley by propelling her team to the regional finals this past season.  She averaged 20.5 points a game this season while pulling down 12 rebounds a game.  She was named District 28-2A Most Valuable Player.  She was also named to the TABC All-State Team as well as the TGCA All-State Team.  Her outstanding play also earned her an opportunity to play in both the TABC and TGCA All-Star Games.
During her career, Termeka averaged almost 20 points a game and just under 9 rebounds a game.  Over her four years on Varsity, the Lady Mustangs went 91-39 while playing in two regional Tournaments.
