Smiley teen killed in accident
Dustin John Boudreaux, 19, of Smiley was killed Tuesday when the vehicle he was driving flipped over into a creek in Gonzales County.
According Cpl. Patrick Davis of the Department of Public Safety, Boudreaux was traveling eastbound in a 1992 Ford pick-up truck, on CR 219, when he “over-corrected, lost control of the vehicle, and flipped upside down in the creek.”
Boudreaux was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Don Setliff of Precinct 4.
Searchers were not able to find the vehicle until Tuesday afternoon at 1:20 p.m. The official DPS report noted the driver was wearing a seat belt. It did not indicate whether cause of death was drowning or injuries sustained in the accident.
The posted speed limit in the area of the accident was 35 miles per hour. According to law enforcement authorities, no other vehicles were involved in the accident, and there were no passengers in the truck with Boudreaux.
