Luling EMS Employee of the Year
Melinda Molina Valdez says she is a very blessed person.
The Paramedic was recently selected by her coworkers as the Luling EMS 2010 Employee of the Year. Valdez has worked with LEMS since February 2009.
“Melinda brings to the service the full package of what it takes to be successful,” EMS Supervisor Glen Germer said. “She is professional and courteous and strives to provide the best patient care possible. Melinda is a true team player, and I’m very proud she is on our team.”
Valdez is a full time Paramedic in Luling and lives in Seguin. She graduated from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi with an Associates Degree in Applied Science for Paramedic two years ago.
“It was one of the best choices I ever made in my life,” she said.
Valdez was an Emergency Room Technician for ten years prior to going to graduation and joining the EMS team. She said she was surprised at being selected as employee of the year because she is the newest employee at LEMS.
“There are so many great people here who have been doing it longer than me,” Valdez said. “My peers voted for me and that means the world to me. That is the greatest compliment.”
The award was presented during the EMS Christmas party dinner, Dec. 14.
“It was an honor and nice to know they like me and think I’m doing a good job,” she said. “I will continue to work hard for this service and the people of Luling.”
She said that no matter what the severity of the call is, she treats each emergency with the same level of care.
“We treat them all the same, no matter what the problem is, we are here to help,” she said. “I love Luling. It is a great small town and very personal. I’m so glad to be here.”
She said she’s not the type of person to sit still on the job.
“I really feel like I am making a difference here,” she said.
