Couple facing drug charges after visiting jail

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on May 27, 2012 a male and female arrived at the Sheriff’s Office for visitation.
The female visitor was found to have an outstanding warrant in Travis County. She was taken into custody on the warrant and suspicious behavior exhibited by the male lead deputy’s to believe that narcotics may be in the car which the two drove up in at the Sheriff’s Office.
The male was identified and at the time there was no reason to hold him on scene. Fayette County Deputies Ben Wilson and David Smith continued their investigation and a search of the vehicle produced marijuana, Xanax, and Methamphetamines being located in the vehicle.
The two will be charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, with warrants to be issued.
