Waelder sets date at AT&T

The Waelder Wildcats boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will be featured in basketball games at the AT&T Center in San Antonio Nov. 25, preceding the Thanksgiving holiday matchup between the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors.
Waelder’s teams will be taking on the Fayetteville Lions, with the girls’ game starting at 1 p.m. and the boys’ game following at 2:30. The Spurs and Warriors are scheduled for a 5:30 tipoff.
Tickets giving access to all three games are $19.35, and parking is $8 per car. Tickets are available at the Waelder ISD administration office from Linda Beale at 830-788-7161. Tickets are also available online at www.nba.com/spurs/
The high school basketball season kicks off this week. The Gonzales and Waelder girls’ teams were in action on Tuesday.
 Friday’s schedule finds the Lady Apaches hosting Marion at 8 p.m. and the Lady Wildcats at hoem against Hempstead at 5:30 p.m.
Boys’ action tips off a week after the girls, but those looking for a preview can swing by the Gonzales gym at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Apaches will host Waelder and Columbus in a three-way scrimmage. St. Paul was scheduled to participate in the Bracken Christian School Tournament in San Antonio but that will be delayed because of the football playoffs.
A full slate of action is on tap for Tuesday, Nov. 17.
In boys’ action, Boerne Champion will bvisit Gonzales in a scheduled 7:30 p.m. tipoff, while the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs visit Schulenburg at 8 p.m. La Grange will be at Waelder for a 6:30 p.m. start.
Girls’ action will find Gonzales at Waelder for a 5 p.m. tipoff, with Nixon-Smiley hosting Bandera at 6:30 p.m.
