Revisiting the time machine
In my last article I asked a question:
If you could travel back in time, without the fear of changing anything, where/when would you go and why?
I got some answers off the street, through email and Facebook. Here are a few. I removed the names of the sender, to protect the innocent…
“I would love to sit and visit with Benjamin Franklin, inventor, politician, diplomat, author… It would be great.”
“To watch King Solomon acquire all that knowledge and wealth -- and see how he dealt with wives AND concubines!”
“To a time I hurt my daughter’s feelings.....I would like a do-over, please!”
“I would go back to the 1800’s, when a lot of people lived off the land. I can’t imagine a more satisfying feeling than growing your own fruits & veggies, hunting and fishing for meat, and making your own bread, all without a time clock.”
“To that moment when I could have asked my grandmother about her missing daughter, but did not. I know now she really wanted to talk about her, but in my youth, I was afraid to upset her or hurt her feelings. Now that I am a mother....”
“I would want to go back to the time when Jesus walked the earth to follow Him around, watch Him heal people, and listen to Him teach (even though I can’t understand Aramaic).”
“1822. The year my ancestors moved to Texas. I would love to meet the people that helped settle Texas. I would love to see the Brazos River land as they were then.”
“The garden of Eden....but I might want to interfere. LOL”
“I would take my children back to the time when I grew up, in the mountains of Virginia, to let them see how happy we were without TV, computer games and Cell Phones”
“I would go back when muscle cars where 3000 dollars fully tricked out and buy them all “
“Tough to choose...I think I would like to see Rome at the height of the Roman Empire...or do I want to see the height of the Greek empire...either way, I wanna see an empire at it’s peak. Maybe Egypt during the construction of the Great Pyramids. Yeah...lets settle on that.”
“Go back to where both my parents were alive. 10 more minutes is all I want.”
“In other words, just to observe and not to participate? Hmm, tough choice there. I think maybe the Crucifixion, to answer a few questions.”
