Yoakum Council considers rezoning
The Yoakum City Council received recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Commission during a regular scheduled meeting of the council Tuesday night. The recommendation involved the approval of a change in zoning from Industrial to Residential (R-4) at 504 Boyle St.
During a public hearing on the matter, however no one chose to address the council.
Following the public hearing, the council considered an ordinance granting a change in the zoning on the Boyle St. property. The area of discussion is described as part of lots 17 and 18 of block 1085 in the Plaza Addition, as shown on the official tax roll. The ordinance was approved on first reading.
Next, the council considered a resolution adopting the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan Update - 2010. The resolution was adopted.
The council then accepted and approved the 2010 tax roll as certified by the DeWitt County Chief Appraiser.
The council also established and approved the amount of debt service to be supported by the ad valorem tax levy and the amount to be supported by the utility revenue for Fiscal Year 2010-11 for payment of principal, interest and administrative fees and the 2004 General Obligation Bond Issue debt, and the 2006 Texas Water Development General Obligation Bond debt.
Other agenda items included considering adopting an ordinance for the 2010-2011 city budget, and revising the Manual of Fees and Service Charges. Both passed as presented on first reading.
Two board members were re-appointed to the Yoakum Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors for two-year terms. They are Margie McMullen and Tommy Barre.
The City Manager Calvin Cook gave a report on project and administratiove developments, city functions and department projects.
