DeWitt County Jailer Steals From Inmate

On February 8, 2017 the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a theft of property from a former inmate. During a meeting with Cuero Chief of Police Jay Lewis, Sheriff Carl Bowen was informed that during the investigation of a theft of a debit card report, they discovered that the suspect was a DeWitt County Jailer. The decision was made to contact the Texas Rangers to conduct the remainder of the investigation .
